What is BSL?
British Sign Language (BSL) is a complete language and is much more than simply signing spoken English.
Over 87,000 people in the UK use BSL as their first or preferred language.
BSL uses hand shapes, movement, facial expressions and body language to communicate meaning and just like spoken languages, it has its own vocabulary, grammar, regional variations and ways of putting sentences together.
At SmartSigns BSL, we make learning BSL fun, practical and accessible, whether you're completely new to signing, learning for work, want to take your signing to the next level or simply want to communicate more confidently with Deaf people.
About Us
Smartsigns BSL has a dedicated HQ in the heart of Newton Abbot High Street in Devon. The small classes are relaxed, friendly and suitable for all.
Prefer to learn from home? Online BSL courses are available too, giving you the flexibility to learn wherever you are.
I also offer face-to-face BSL training for workplaces, schools and organisations, bringing the training directly to you. These are available across South Devon, including Newton Abbot, Exeter, Teignmouth, Brixham and Plymouth.
You can choose from taster sessions, intensive courses, awareness coure to full Signature - accredited Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications.
Whether you're learning BSL for yourself, to communicate with deaf family and friends, or as part of your workplace training, there's an option to suit you.
